CURRENT CONSTRUCTION UPDATES:

What's Happening Now:

  • Median station work continues at Allison East.
  • Station construction is occurring at the East Riverfront East.
  • Traffic signal work occurs both day and night along Broad Street between Boulevard and North Davis Avenue. Traffic signal work also occurs at intersections at Boulevard, Allison Street, Allen Avenue, Lombardy Street, and Ryland Street.
  • Most work occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All schedules are weather and progress-dependent


Sunday, March 19 to Saturday, March 25:

Traffic Signal Work

  • When:  
    • Night work (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.) will occur from Sunday, March 19, to Thursday, March 23.
    • Day work (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) will occur from Monday, March 20, to Friday, March 24.
  • Where:  
    • Broad Street between Boulevard and North Davis Avenue.
    • Intersections of Allison Street, Ryland Street, Harrison Street, Shafer Street, Bowe Street, and Laurel Street.
  • Impacts
    • Temporary single and double lane closures across Broad Street at signal intersections.
    • Noise: Depending on proximity to work zone, area residents could hear portions of work. 

Median Station Construction and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) 

  • Impacts:  

    • Permanent closures of the median and inside lanes of Broad Street between Hamilton Street and 1st Street. Two travel lanes remain open in both directions.
    • Lane shifts are in effect at Allison Street, the Science Museum and Cleveland stations. Parking has been removed in these locations while construction is occurring. Parking will be restored to final configuration after each station is completed. 

Roadway Work

  • Details:  Demolition of median curb from Lombardy Street moving eastward.
  • Impacts:   
    • No additional traffic impacts; work is within existing work zone.
    • Noise: Depending on proximity to work zone, area residents could hear portions of work.

Waterline Relocation

  • WHERE: Allison St Westbound during the daytime (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • IMPACTS: No additional traffic impacts; work is within existing work zone.

Station Construction

Station Construction: Allison East

  • Where:    Median of Broad Street between Allison Street and Meadow Street.
  • Impacts: Permanent closures to the median and inside lanes of Broad Street at Allison East in both the eastbound and westbound directions. Street parking impacts include the following:
    • Parking will be permanently removed on the north side of Broad Street (westbound direction) between Strawberry Street and Allen Avenue.
    • Parking on the south side of Broad Street (eastbound direction) between Strawberry Street and Allen Avenue is temporarily removed while the Allison East station construction is occurring. After the station is completed, parking will be restored.
    • Noise: Depending on proximity to work zone, area residents could hear portions of work. 

Station Construction: Science Museum West

  • Where:      Median of Broad Street between Robinson Street and Terminal Place.
  • Impacts:    Permanent closures of the median and inside lanes of Broad Street at Science Museum West in both the eastbound and westbound directions. Street parking impacts include the following:
    • Parking will be temporarily removed on the north side of Broad Street (westbound direction) between Robinson Street and Terminal Place. After completion of station, parking will be restored.
    • Parking will be temporarily removed on the south side of Broad Street (eastbound direction) between Robinson Street and Terminal Place. After completion of station, parking will be restored.
    • Noise: Depending on proximity to work zone, area residents could hear portions of work.

Station Construction: East Riverfront East

  • Where:  East Main Street between Ash Street and Nicholson Street.
  • Impacts
    • Please note, this section of road is already closed due to the existing East Riverfront Redevelopment project. No maintenance of traffic is required.
    • Noise: Depending on proximity to work zone, area residents could hear portions of work. 
  • Detour information:  From East Main Street eastbound, take Williamsburg Avenue to Nicholson Street to East Main Street (Rt. 5).
